BERKELEY (KRON) — A baby with the Zika virus was born at the Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, sources told KRON4 on Thursday.
The mother contracted the virus while traveling abroad.
This comes after health officials confirmed two babies were born with Zika-related defects in California.
Health officials do not believe the virus will spread locally.
“All of the Zika cases in California have been travel associated, or associated with being in a country where the Zika virus is actively transmitted,” Alameda County Public Health Department spokeswoman Erica Pan said.
No other information is available.
