CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — Investigators said on Wednesday a series of fires along the Iron Horse Trail in Contra Costa County may be arson, the County Fire Protection District said.

Investigators are focusing on the trail to the north and south of Monument Boulevard, but cited the ongoing investigation for not releasing the exact number, locations, days and times of the suspicious fires. Fire

district officials also did not disclose why they think the fires are suspicious.

The fire district is asking for the public’s help in the case and would like anyone who lives near or uses the trail to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities or people to police.

Also, people who live near the trail are asked to remove any dry vegetation or property from areas close to the trail.

The trail spans from Pleasant Hill to Concord.
