VALLEJO (KRON) — The Vallejo Fire Department has managed an annual Toys for Tots program for many years.

But this year, the program was struggling. Donations from the community were scarce.

They didn’t think they were going to collect a record high 10,000 toy donations like they did last year.

So, they reached out to local council members who contributed their own money and donations, but it still wasn’t enough.

Then, the miracle they have been waiting for happened.

“Then, on Tuesday of this week (12/13), an anonymous donor called the fire department and asked us to accept a $2000 cash donation with the direction of spending it on our Toys For Tots program. We were very humbled,” Vallejo fire spokesman Kevin Brown said.

Six firefighters spent the morning at target where they filled seven carts full of toys.

And while they were shopping, they received additional donations from customers at the store.

If you want to help the Toys for Tots program, all local fire stations are collecting donations until the end of the month.
