SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge was built 80 years ago today.

On Nov. 12, 1936, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt officially opened the bridge using the Presidential Golden Key.

The bridge connects the city of San Francisco to Oakland.

This was built a year before the Golden Gate Bridge opened which links San Francisco to Oakland.

The Golden Gate Bridge opened on May 27, 1937.
