HERCULES (KRON) — Police have reported 28 car burglaries in the city of Hercules since the beginning of October.

Twenty-five cases had windows smashed, one was from an unlocked car and the other two cases had an unknown entry.

Most of the items stolen inside the cars were GPS navigational systems and laptops.

Six of the cases had no items stolen.

Most of the car burglaries happened in commercial shopping areas.

Two cases happened at the Franklin Canyon Golf Course.

Police warn residents not to leave any valuable inside their cars.

The thieves in all the 28 cases are looking for purses, laptops, GPS devices, smartphones and cash.

The Hercules Police Department is increasing patrols particularly in commercial shopping areas, apartment complexes, and the golf course.
