CALISTOGA (KRON) — Napa County Sheriff’s deputies were searching for an armed bank robbery suspect in Calistoga on Tuesday afternoon, and residents were being asked to shelter-in-place, deputies said.

But at around 7:40 p.m., authorities said the suspect was arrested after the manhunt. The shelter-in-place in the area has also been lifted.

Another person had been in custody before the manhunt, deputies said. Authorities said the second suspect was considered armed and dangerous.

Deputies detained someone earlier but did not say if that person was a suspect. Napa County officials said all suspects involved in the robbery have been captured.

The suspects are accused of robbing an armored car and shooting a guard in Windsor, officials said.

Deputies were searching for the outstanding suspect near state Highway 128 and Petrified Forest Road and were asking residents to avoid the area, according to the sheriff’s office.

This manhunt was connected to an alleged bank robbery earlier on Tuesday afternoon in Windsor. Around 1:50 p.m., deputies received a report of an armed robbery happening in the area of the Lakewood Shopping Center at 9018 Brooks Road S., sheriff’s spokeswoman Cecile Focha said.

The robbery was reported at a Chase Bank there.

Witnesses told responding deputies that an SUV pulled up behind an armored car parked outside of a Chase bank, and two masked men got out and shot one of the guards with a long gun. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Focha said.

The guard was rushed to a hospital, but Focha did not immediately know the extent of his injuries. The guard was conscious when he was rushed to a hospital.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies to the suspect’s description and heard a short time later that Calistoga police had spotted the suspects, Focha said.

Focha said the Sonoma sheriff’s helicopter and deputies from the SWAT team responded to assist in the manhunt for the robbery suspects.

Sonoma sheriff’s investigators are continuing to interview witnesses in the area of the robbery. The FBI is assisting in the investigation, Focha said.Bay City News contributed to this report.
