OAKLAND (KRON) — An off-duty Oakland police officer was shot at Wednesday night in Oakland, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Around 11:40 p.m., an Oakland police officer was shot at in the southbound lanes of Interstate Highway 880 and 16th Avenue, police said.

The officer’s car was hit by gunfire, but he was not injured, police said.

Police say there are no reports that anyone else was injured.

Officers were able to find the suspect car and initiated a traffic stop.

When the driver refused to pull over, a pursuit ensued, leading police into East Oakland.

The car was later found abandoned in the 5700 block of Brookdale Ave.

At around 3:25 p.m., police said they arrested three suspects in the shooting.

Two of the suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting. The third has been arrested for unrelated charges but is considered a person of interest at this time.

Police are seen going door to door with K9 officers.

Alameda police were also on scene aiding in the search.

Some officers wore tactical gear and were seen using a Bearcat to help aid in search efforts.

This is the third shooting on an East Bay freeway since last Saturday.

The Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
