CARBONDALE, Ill. (CNN) — Some people like to celebrate their birthdays in mystical sports — like Paris, New York, or Prague.
But for others, a fast food meal from a franchise will do just fine.
At least, that’s the case for 101-year-old Ruth Parker.
“I feel alright for being 101 I guess, hah,” Ruth said.
This is Ruth Parker, who has chosen to celebrate her big day turning 101 amongst her best amigos, and tacos.
“We celebrate every birthday here,” she said.
She says she started coming to the Carbondale Taco Bell on a rainy day right after moving to town, looking for a place to read her paper and drink her coffee.
“They said ‘well we don’t serve coffee here,’ but one of the help brought his coffee said we’ll make you a cup,” she said.
“And after that she came back every time,” said Taco Bell manager Rebecca Gefro.
Gefro is the store manager.
“And Becky is a doll. She is a wonderful wonderful person,” Parker said.
Becky says every employee at this store is goes out of their way to be nice to Miss Ruth.
“No matter what. We all know Miss Ruth and we all make her a part of our lives and you know we talk to her and we just love her to death,” said Gefro.
Anf that’s why she’s been coming here for 18 years like clockwork.
“Two times a week. Tuesdays and Fridays,” said Parker.
In all that time, she’s pretty sure she’s had everything on the menu, but says she does have a favorite.
“Right now I’m hooked on their Taco Fries. They are delicious!” she said.
Becky says they’re already looking forward to her next birthday fiesta.
“We’ll see her at 102 next year. And we’re gonna make it even bigger!” she said.
Even though it’s safe to say they’ll see her within a few days.
