SAN MATEO (BCN) — A 49-year-old Pacifica man was found dead Saturday after a solo crash in San Mateo that California Highway Patrol officers believe took place Friday night.
The collision was reported at around 11:55 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Norfolk Street, just near the westbound state Highway 92 connector ramp to northbound U.S. Highway 101, CHP officials said.
CHP officers think that sometime after 10 p.m. Friday, the man was driving a 2000 Mercedes on the elevated connector ramp when he lost control of the car and collided with the concrete barrier on the east side of the roadway.
The Mercedes traveled over the concrete barrier and fell into a dirt field, where it came to rest under the interchange of eastbound Highway 92 and northbound Highway 101, CHP officials said.
Witnesses to the crash have been asked to call CHP Officer K. Steinkraus at (650) 369-6261.
