ANTIOCH (KRON) — The victims who died after eating a Thanksgiving meal in Antioch have been identified.
The victims are identified as 43-year old Christopher Cappetti, 59-year-old Chooi Keng Cheah and 69-year-old Jane Evans, according to the Contra Costa County coroner.
They were all residents at assisted living facilities in Antioch, officials said.
Autopsies for the victims show all three had similar intestinal abnormalities. The cause of death is still pending.
The three people who died became sick after eating a communal Thanksgiving dinner in Antioch. 14 others were also sickened after the meal.
All victims who were became ill had eaten Thanksgiving meals served by Golden Hills Community Church at Antioch’s American Legion Hall.
Eight people were admitted to Sutter Delta Medical Center at various times between Friday and Saturday with what appeared to be food-borne illnesses.
One person remains hospitalized, but is recovering, according to health officials.
Two additional people who got sick from this meal have also been discovered. However, these two did not seek medical attention and have recovered. This brings the total to 19 total people known to have fallen, including the three who died.
Anyone with leftover food from this event should not eat it and throw it away. Anyone who ate food from the Thanksgiving Day event and is now feeling sick should immediately contact their medical provider and also call CCHS at 925-313-6740.Stay with KRON4 News for updates
