CONCORD (KRON) — Police are investigating a carjacking that happened Monday night in Concord.

Officers responded at 7:51 p.m. to the 7-Eleven convenience store located in the 4100 block of Concord Boulevard on a report of a vehicle theft.

Police said the victim went into the store and left his vehicle with the keys inside.

While in the store, the victim saw the suspect attempting to steal his white 2001 Chevrolet van, police said.

The victim ran outside and tried to pull the suspect out of the vehicle, but the suspect hit the victim at least three times as the suspect tried to drive away.

The suspect was able to drive away with the vehicle and was last seen heading east on Concord Boulevard.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s with a heavy build, shaved head and wearing a dark tank top and pants.
