Aguilar was pronounced dead a short time later. The van’s driver was taken to a hospital for evaluation but his injuries were not serious. He has been cooperative with the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

Following the crash, deputies arrested a rear passenger, identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Adams of Half Moon Bay, on suspicion of public intoxication, according to the sheriff’s office.
