LAKE COUNTY (KRON) — The devastating Valley Fire that has charred now 70,000 acres in Napa, Sonoma and Lake Counties has caused many schools to temporarily shut their doors.
With thousands of people are evacuating from their homes and hundreds of structures burned to the ground, school districts in the area issued closures in the areas threatened.
Pope Valley Elementary School will remain closed Wednesday.
But there are a number of schools which will open the doors to students, including the Lakeport Unified School District and the Upper Lake High School and Elementary School District. The Lucerne School District will also be open.
Kelseyville Unified and Konocti Unified School District are still closed and will be returning to school on Monday September 21.
