MIDDLETOWN (KRON) — Hundreds of homes and thousands of possessions have been damaged by wildfires this season.

The hardest things to lose are the items that cannot be easily replaced, things which are associated with memories, like photo albums.

A Bay Area company is offering Valley Fire victims a discount on restoration of fire-damaged print pictures.

Scan Café, based in Hayward, is a tech company that offers a very unique service. They take photos that have been damaged by smoke, fire, flood, earthquake, any disaster, and restore them.

Scan Café will take photos from any format — slides, negatives, pictures still in the frame or photo album, and restore them to a higher quality.

They are offering victims of the Valley Fire a 25 percent discount on their services. Besides disaster damaged photos, they will fix up any photos, like pictures that have lost their original color over time or pictures faded by sunlight.

Or they can even fix pictures damaged by aging.

Were your pictures taken improperly, and did they come out blue? They can fix that too.

You can drop off the pictures at their Hayward offices or mail them in. After they restore the pics, they give customers their fixed-up photos on a DVD in a digital format. This DVD can then be copied and given out to family and friends. so that not just one person is holding onto the precious memories.
