Valley Fire: Lake County sheriff’s deputies arrest man for possessing burglary tools in evacuated area

LAKE COUNTY (KRON) —  Early Tuesday morning, Lake County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man, 26-year-old Royce Moore, for allegedly possessing burglary tools in an area evacuated due to the Valley Fire.

Deputies said they approached a car at the closed intersection of Bottle Rock Road and Highway 29. And police said they saw a man and a woman trying to hide something.

The two were dressed all in black, and when deputies searched the car, they found gloves and a bandanna, along with a backpack filled with pliers, channel locks, and a cordless drill.

The deputies said they believed Moore was planning to burglarize evacuated residents in the Cobb Mountain area.

Moore had two warrants for his arrest.
