MIDDLETOWN (KRON) — The Valley Fire has destroyed hundreds of buildings in its path.
But the blaze did spare some structures, and many of them provide important resources for people in the area. The fire has been going on for several days, burning over 67,000 acres.
And firefighters are continuing their efforts to saves as many structures as they can. One business still standing is Store 24, which is open for the first time since the Valley Fire started.
Employees said they wanted to thank firefighters for their heroic efforts.
Also, in the midst of the smoldering hillsides, devastation, and acres upon acres of charred lands, a symbol of hope was sparred too — a bright and shinning church.
Event though the ground was blackened all around it, the church was standing seemingly untouched by the Valley Fire that has consumed hundreds of structures in a matter of days.
