Vallejo girl makes up kidnapping story to avoid punishment

VALLEJO (KRON) — Vallejo police are saying that a bizarre kidnapping account told by a 10-year-old Friday was entirely fabricated.

The girl told police a colorful story of being kidnapped with details of a red car, a stranger and a green dragon tattoo to avoid punishment, according to police.

The girl claimed she was taken from Dan Mini Elementary School located at 1530 Lorenzo Drive in Vallejo by a strange man.

She said a man with green glasses, a gold nose ring and a green dragon tattoo grabbed her and pulled her into a red coupe.

She told police she managed to escape when the vehicle stopped at a house in American Canyon and she escaped to a friend’s house.

Police found the girl at her friend’s home, a few miles away from the school.

“The 10-year-old child indicated that she made up the entire story after receiving a reprimand at school for misbehavior and did so out of fear of facing potential discipline from her parents,” Lt. Kenny Park said in a statement this morning.

Detectives realized she had fabricated the story after they were unable to substantiate any of her claims, Park said.
