SONOMA COUNTY (BCN)—A Vacaville man died in a three-vehicle crash east of Healdsburg this morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Sonoma County coroner’s office was informing the victim’s next of kin this afternoon, Sonoma County sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Crum said.
The collisions happened around 10 a.m. on Alexander Valley Road west of Soda Rock Lane in unincorporated Sonoma County, the CHP said.
Marie Bolkan, 41, of Woodland was driving a 2012 Kia west on Alexander Valley Road west of Soda Rock Lane at 55 mph behind a 2012 GMC Yukon driven by James Brothers of Indiana, the CHP said.
A Honda Accord driven by the Vacaville man was traveling 55 mph east in the westbound lane, and the Yukon swerved to the right but could not avoid sideswiping the Honda, the CHP said.
The Honda continued traveling out of control in the westbound lane and struck the Kia head-on, killing the Vacaville man.
The Yukon driver was not injured and the Kia driver was taken to Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital for treatment of major injuries that are not life threatening, the CHP said.
Both sides of the bridge over the Russian River on Alexander Valley Road were closed until around 12:40 p.m. All three vehicles sustained major damage.
Alcohol or drugs have not been ruled out as a cause of the collision which is under investigation, the CHP said.
