SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – West Coast governors and provincial officials from the United States and Canada are pledging to collaborate on projects to reduce climate-changing pollution.
California Gov. Jerry Brown joined his counterparts from Washington and Oregon, and the environment minister of Canada’s British Columbia, in Wednesday’s agreement.
The West Coast leaders are calling for a network of charging stations for electric vehicles up and down the Pacific Coast, among other projects. Their accord is non-binding.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of a San Francisco gathering of leading energy ministers globally to talk about implementing last year’s Paris accord on fighting climate change by reducing emissions from fossil fuels.
