ALAMEDA (KRON) — A thief stole an urn with cremated human remains from an Alameda home on Wednesday morning, according to police.
The home is located just blocks from the police station.
Alameda police said they find this crime heartbreaking, and they hope the public might help. Among the items stolen in the home was a box containing an urn with the cremated remains of the 70-year-old victim’s wife.
The urn has the same design as the top of the box it was held in.
Police said items that do not have meaning to the burglar will often be discarded in trash cans or bushes, and they are asking the public to call police if they see something suspicious.
