SAN JOSE (BCN) — A woman killed in a rollover crash on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose last Thursday was identified today as 30-year-old Stephanie Lopez, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a reported crash on northbound Highway 101 just north of McKee Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Ryan Fifield said.
Lopez was a back seat passenger in a Nissan Pathfinder that rolled off the freeway and crashed into an empty, late-model Honda Accord on Marburg Way, Fiefield said.
Lopez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the Nissan and suffered major injuries, according to CHP officials.
Medics responded and pronounced Lopez dead at the scene, Fifield said.
Lopez was a San Jose resident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The driver of the Nissan, a 32-year-old San Jose man, and a 17-year-old front seat passenger both suffered minor injuries, according to Fifield.
Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, Fifield said.
