EMERALD HILLS (KRON) �?Two small earthquakes rattled the Peninsula early Friday morning, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-3.1 quake struck Emerald Hills, near Redwood City, at 3:44 a.m., with a depth of about 2.7 miles.

The duration was short but residents described feeling a strong jolt.

A second quake with a magnitude of 2.5 was reported at 7:01 a.m. in the same area as the first.

On social media, users reported feeling the earthquake in Half Moon Bay, Daly City, Santa Clara, and across the bay in Fremont.

The USGS reported more early morning seismic activity. A smaller earthquake struck in the heart of Nevada near Austin, a town about 420 miles east of Emerald Hills. The 2.5-magnitude quake was reported at 4:10 a.m.
