SANTA CRUZ CO. (BCN) — A boat that burned in a fire Saturday morning of the coast near Santa Cruz was successfully towed and did not leak oil or gas into the ocean, U.S. Coast Guard officials said.

The Coast Guard was called to the vicinity of Four Mile Beach, off the coast of Santa Cruz County, at 9:56 a.m., Coast Guard officials said.

Two boaters went overboard after the boat caught fire and a good Samaritan pulled them out of the water, Coast Guard officials said.

The two were transferred to a Coast Guard vessel before being taken to Santa Cruz for medical evaluation, Coast Guard officials said.

The two were the only people on board when the boat caught fire, according to Coast Guard officials.
