SANTA CRUZ (KRON) — Several Santa Cruz high school students were injured Friday morning after an unlicensed teenage driver lost control of a car and crashed in to multiple parked cars.
The crash occurred just before 11 a.m. Friday when the 17-year-old driver swerved while driving northbound on La Fonda Avenue. The driver lost control of the car, according to police, and hit a parked minivan, sideswiped a truck and then veered to the opposite side of the road and crashed into another parked van.
Police say there were four girls in the car, ranging from 15-17-years-old.
The teenagers were driving a Nissan 350Z Roadster, which police say is a two-seater car. The car was occupied by the driver and three other passengers.
One of the occupants suffered major injuries and was life-flighted to a Bay Area trauma center. Police say that person is in stable condition. The three others involved suffered minor injuries.
La Fonda Road was closed for hours after the collision, reopening at 3 p.m., police said.
