Not terrifying at all!
A United Airlines flight from Knoxville, Tennessee headed to Houston, Texas on Thursday was diverted to Dallas after the pilot announced to passengers that two of their screens in the cockpit had gone blank, according to WBIR.
In a video posted to Twitter by a passenger, the pilot can be heard saying, “So you may be able to see we lost two of our screens. Now, if we kept flying, we’d lose them all, eventually, because there’s not enough cooling. There is tremendous heat behind those screens,” the pilot says.
“If we had continued, eventually, I’d be flying blind,” crew said. “So, that’s why we are in Dallas right now. It is unlikely this aircraft is going anywhere tonight.”
The flight landed safely in Dallas just after 6:30 p.m. local time.
United told WBIR they worked to rebook customers on the next available flight.
United also released a statement to WBIR regarding the incident:
ExpressJet Airlines flight 4390, operating as United Express from Knoxville to Houston, diverted to Dallas and landed safely following a mechanical issue. Customers deplaned normally and we are working to get our customers on their way to their destination as soon as possible.
The plane was a Bombardier CRJ-200, an ExpressJet Airlines representative told WBIR.
