Union Square hosts 29th-annual tree lighting ceremony in San Francisco

It was the 29th annual Great Tree Lighting ceremony in San Francisco on Friday night.

Many people from across the Bay Area flocked in Union Square for the yearly tradition.

The 83-foot tree is decorated with more than 33,000 energy-efficient lights and more than 1,100 shining ornaments.

Macy’s officials call it their gift to the City of San Francisco.

And they say each year, the holiday spirit presents another opportunity to give back, not only to our loved ones but to our communities.
