ROHNERT PARK (BCN) — A 27-year-old Ukiah man was arrested Sunday afternoon in Rohnert Park on suspicion of resisting arrest and suspected methamphetamine possession.
Additionally, officers discovered the man, later identified as Marlon Petersen, also had two active felony warrants out of Mendocino County, according to police.
Officers initially responded to Safeway located at 3540 Commerce Blvd. after store employees called to report that a man had attempted to walk out of the store several times with a cart of items he had not purchased, police said.
Peterson had reportedly been wandering around the Safeway for four hours with a cart full of items before he tried to leave.
When an officer took Peterson into custody, he fled on foot out of the store and across the parking lot, according to police.
The public safety officers chased after him, but it was a bystander who successfully caught Peterson and took him to the ground in the parking lot driveway, police said.
Officers later booked Petersen into the Sonoma County jail, according to police.
