PALO ALTO — An Uber driver was arrested Saturday evening for sexual assault on a female passenger in Palo Alto.
59-year-old Rodolf Vjerdha was arrested Saturday evening around 4:00 p.m. after police learned Rodolf was holding a female passenger in his car, and requesting to enter her home.
According to the police, the incident occurred Friday evening, and a female victim requested a ride from the car-hailing service. Rodolf proceeded to pick up the female victim in the 200 block of University Avenue, after she had been socializing with friends in downtown Palo Alto.
When the customer entered the vehicle Rodolf demanded that she sit in the passenger seat against her wishes, due to potentially picking up other customers.
Police said, while in the car Rodolf canceled other customers requests for a ride and began touching the victims leg. The victim demanded the driver stop the vehicle and let her out. Rodolf proceeded to drop off the victim at her home and upon arrival he kissed the victim and requested to go inside her apartment.
The East Palo Alto police department tracked and arrested Rodolf of Redwood City.
The investigation is still ongoing, and are contacting neighboring agencies to determine if there are other victims.
