SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—The U.S. Coast Guard saved a kite surfer Saturday after the surfer used a personal locator beacon to alert them of his whereabouts.
Coast Guard officials say they received an alert from a personal locator beacon telling them about someone in distress by the Golden Gate Bridge.
Someone also reported to the coast guard about the surfer in distress a few minutes later.
A 47-foot Motor Life Boat Crew arrived to the scene and were able to save the surfer.
Emergency crews evaluated the victim and reported he did not have any injuries.
If you spend a lot of time in the water, the Coast Guard recommends to bring an waterproof cell phone or VHF radio to prevent a life-threatening incident starts.
