Two teens die from suspected opioid overdoses in Livermore

The Livermore Police Department is warning the community after two teenagers have died from suspected opioid overdose in the past few days.

It is still early in determining the exact cause of death, but authorities believe it was an accidental overdose.

The teenagers died on different days and in different locations.

Officials are unsure if the deaths are linked but feel it is important to alert the community.

The patrol staff at the Livermore Police Department has recently been trained in the administration of Narcan, which serves as a remedy to opioid overdose.

Officers have been given Narcan to have available while working.

Prescription drug abuse is a concern in the community, authorities say, and remind residents to shield medications from young people.
