EMERYVILLE (KRON)—Two suspected car burglars in Emeryville were arrested Tuesday morning.
Police received a call at the East Bay Bridge Shopping Center about suspects driving around the parking lot in a red Acura SUV and looking into cars.
Officers found the car as the driver was leaving the area.
The rear license plate was covered with a paper dealer plate.
Officers stopped the SUV and detained two suspects.
While officers were searching the SUV, they found three devices used to break into car windows, a 6-inch switchblade knife and items that were reported stolen from a car burglary in Fremont.
One of the suspects also has cocaine.
The SUV was a unreported stolen car.
The suspects have been identified by police as 26-year-old George Nelson and 25-year-old James Craft.
Nelson was arrested for possessing a switchblade, possessing narcotics, possessing burglary tools and an outstanding felony arrest warrant.
Craft was arrested for prowling, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and car theft.
