ANTIOCH (KRON) — Antioch police are investigating a shooting that injured two people Monday morning.
It happened in the area of Cavallo Road and E. 18th Street when officers responded to reports of shots fired.
Officers found two victims when they arrived on the scene in two different areas.
The victims have been taken to a local hospital and are in surgery.
Police found several people of interest nearby and are in the process of interviewing them
A witness told KRON4 they saw the situation escalate on Cavallo Rd. from the business where he works.
He says two groups of people were yelling back and forth at each other when he suddenly heard multiple gunshots.
It sounded like an entire magazine was emptied, the witness said.
He heard someone yelling “I’m hit, I’m hit.”
The witness says he called police at 11:25 a.m., but the groups had scattered off before they arrived at the scene.
