GLOUSTER, OH (WCMH) – An Athens County mayor said two police officers were fired Monday after allegedly driving drunk and crashing into a house.
Glouster Mayor Miles Wolf tells NBC4 officers Ryan Keeney and Joshua Dewuell were released from their duties on Monday after the early morning incident.
The crash happened on State Route 685, just outside of the village of Glouster in northern Athens County, according to Wolf. Keeney was driving his personal vehicle and was off duty when he lost control and struck a house. Wolf said Keeney was suspected of drinking and refused a breathalyzer test.
Dewuell was a passenger in the vehicle and relieved of his duties as well. Wolf said both were in the probationary stage as police officers.
The Glouster Police Department made a Facebook post seeking applications for officers after the two officers were terminated.
The Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. The Glouster Police Department is also conducting an internal investigation.
