Two men arrested for burglary in San Leandro

SAN LEANDRO (KRON) — San Leandro police have arrested two men who they think burglarized a house Monday morning.

Around 9:45, police got a call from a resident about two men who were walking around, possibly casing the area.

When officers arrived to the area of Pontiac Street near Suffolk Drive, they saw two men in the backyard of a house.

After spotting the men run into a house, the officers surrounded the house.

Shortly after that, one of the men, later identified as Oakland resident 31-year-old Darius Swain, came outside and surrendered to police.

The second man, identified as 26-year-old Irvin Prince, also of Oakland, also came out of the house and surrendered to police.

Police went into the house and saw that it had been ransacked and that a side door appeared to have been pried open.

Chief Sandra Spagnoli stated “This is why it is so important to get the community involved when they observe any suspicious activity. The partnership between the community and the police today prevented a burglary and saved the resident from losing any valuables.”
