Two men have been arrested after being caught trying to leave the SAP office building in Palo Alto with stolen property early Sunday morning, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.

The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Mike Turner from Oakland and 21-year-old Steve Turner. Authorities say the men are cousins.

Around 2:08 a.m. on Sunday, police were responding to a burglary report at 3450 Hillview Avenue.

The first officer arrived to find a glass door smashed and two masked suspects holding stolen items. When demanding the suspects to stop, they ran the other way.

One suspect that was holding a tool used in the burglary was stopped by the officer.

Another officer who responded saw the second man running through the parking lot and was able to stop him and take him into custody.

Officials found stolen property in the area of the second suspect, in addition to the suspects’ car that was parked in the lot.

Authorities found during an investigation that the items in the car were from a burglary that happened at another SAP building at 3475 Deer Creek Road earlier in the night.

There was also a smashed window and evidence of a burglary at the other location.

The cousins were booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail and charged with two counts of burglary. Mike Turner is facing an additional charge for being in possession of a burglary tool.

Detectives are investigating whether these men are connected to similar crimes in the area.
