BERKELEY (BCN) — Police have closed a major intersection in Berkeley this afternoon after a collision involving a scooter occurred, injuring two people.

Police and fire units responded to the scene and closed Shattuck and University avenues, police said around 2:05 p.m.

Two people on a motor scooter reportedly crashed into a pickup truck.

The two scooter riders were taken to a hospital. Information about the extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area. Police did not say when the intersection would reopen.
