Two dogs die, three people displaced after townhome fire

SAN JOSE (BCN) — Two dogs died and three people were displaced in a two-alarm fire in a San Jose townhome Saturday evening, a fire spokesman said.

Firefighters were called at 4:50 p.m. to the 3400 block of Sugar Creek Drive on a report of the fire that started on the first floor and extended into the attic, fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said.

The initial impression is that the fire started when something was left on the stove.

No one was at home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured, Van Elgort said.

No other units of the building were damaged. The damaged townhome sustained moderate to major damage, according to Van Elgort.
