SALINAS (KRON) — A 25-year old was shot an injured in Salinas Saturday in a shooting that appeared to target he and his younger brother.

Officers responded at 10:35 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of Pacific Avenue, according to police.

A green Dodge Neon parked, and without saying a word a passenger in the backseat opened fire on the two brothers, police said.

The brothers were 25 and 23 years old.

The younger brother was unscathed but the older brother suffered a gunshot wound to his lower extremities, according to police.

He was transported to the hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

Before the shooting, police officers received reports of two teens, approximately 18 or 19 armed with handguns in the 200 block of Williams Road.

The two locations are roughly 1.5 miles apart.

Witnesses reported seeing a green Dodge Neon and a white Lexus in that incident, police said.

Police said they believe the shooting is gang-related.
