Two arrested for allegedly stabbing each other in Monterey

MONTEREY (KRON)—Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after they both stabbed each other during a fight at a restaurant in Monterey Saturday morning, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at Blue Fin Cafe and Billiards around 1:30 a.m., according to police.


One person was found with a stab wound near Cannery Row and Prescott Ave. One victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A second stabbing victim was taken to the hospital by a friend, according to police.

The Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics team and the police found the two victims most likely stabbed each other.

The two are also believed to be part of a gang and are not from Monterey, according to police.

The names of the two people have not been released, but police describe them as a 40-year-old Salinas man and a 27-year-old Castroville man.

The area is known for its nightlife and Monterey police is committed to keeping the area safe. Police have increased patrols because of the incident.
