Twitter wars: Swift apologizes to Minaj about tweet, Katy Perry weighs in

NEW YORK (KRON/AP) – Pop star Taylor Swift has issued an apology to hip hop artist Nicki Minaj for calling her out on Twitter over MTV’s Video Music Awards nominations.

The two artists took to social media and traded words Tuesday after MTV announced the VMA nominees, which has Swift as the leader with nine. Minaj was upset she didn’t earn a nomination for video of the year for “Anaconda,” and launched a series of tweets about how slim women earn top nominations. She didn’t mention any names, but Swift took it as a personal attack.

On Thursday, Swift apologized in a tweet saying that she thought she was “being called out” by Minaj. The “Bad Blood” singer added: “I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki.”

Swift’s apology came a day after Katy Perry got in the mix by sending out a tweet saying,”Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…”

Fans of Swift and Perry have long speculated that the two are at odds, with Taylor’s “Bad Blood” hit rumored to be about her falling-out with Perry.
