CLINTON, N.C. (WNCN) — The Sampson County authorities are investigating a home invasion where the suspects shocked some of the victims with a stun gun, including a 4-month-old, the sheriff’s office said.

On Tuesday, Sampson County authorities were informed of a breaking and entering in progress in the 6800 block of Hobbton Highway around 5:15 p.m. in Clinton.

When officers arrived at the scene, they observed two men dressed in dark clothing and wearing tactical vests with “SWAT” imprinted on them.

Both men fled the scene and officers chased after them.

On suspect, Naquan Lavert Bryant, was captured a short distance from the home and was armed with a stun gun and a pellet gun.

The second suspect, Rashad Eugene Curlee, was captured in a wooded area behind the home.

A preliminary investigation revealed the two suspects, along with a third suspect, forcefully entered a home at 6833 Hobbton Highway in order to commit a robbery.

The home was occupied by two adults and five children at the time of the home invasion.

The sheriff’s office said two children hid inside of a closet and called for help, but was soon discovered by one of the suspects. The suspect pointed a gun at one of the children and threatened to kill her.

During the robbery, the suspects shocked some of the victims, including a 4-month-old who was shocked in the face, the sheriff’s office said.

The third suspect fled the scene in a grey vehicle before deputies arrived to the scene.

The victims included a 47-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman, a 13-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy, a 1-year-old boy, and a 4-month-old girl.

The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said all of the victims were of Hispanic descent.

The victim’s names were being withheld for safety reasons. Four of the victims were treated and released for stun gun related burn marks.

“It is despicable that someone would torture children, and for what, a little cash. I am thankful that we were able to capture at least two of the three individuals responsible for this heinous act,” said Sheriff Jimmy Thornton. “We will continue to work diligently to identify the third suspect.”

Bryant, 20, has been charged with three counts robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping, and six counts of second-degree kidnapping and attempted first-degree forcible rape as well as two counts of assault on a child under 12.

Bryant was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.

Curlee, 26, has been charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping, six counts of second-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree forcible rape and two counts of assault on a child under 12.

Curlee was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.

Both suspects face multiple other charges and have a first court appearance on June 5.
