TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – Five one-time members of a University of Alabama fraternity are set for trial on charges of hazing new members.

The five are accused of forcing Phi Gamma Delta pledges to stand in ice water and salt, resulting in frost bite and treatment in a hospital burn unit.

A police deposition says one new member also was forced to stick his head in a toilet.

A non-jury trial is set for Wednesday in Tuscaloosa. Records indicate that the five are fighting the charges, but documents show one man is in drug and alcohol rehabilitation and won’t be in court.

The five were expelled from Phi Gamma Delta, a prominent fraternity at Alabama. The alleged hazing occurred at the fraternity’s house directly across the street from the football stadium.
