SAN BRUNO (KRON) — There is finally a trial date for PG&E in the 2010 pipeline explosion in San Bruno that killed eight people.

No one who has seen the flames and the aftermath of that blast will ever forget it. An entire San Bruno neighborhood was leveled in Sept. 2010.

Now, we know that PG&E will stand trial in two weeks to determine its guilt or innocence in connection with the explosion.

PG&E faces 13 criminal counts, including allegations it violated pipeline safety rules. It’s also accused of trying to obstruct a federal investigation into the disaster.

The San Francisco-based utility has pleaded not guilty and faces a fine of up to $562 million if convicted.

PG&E isn’t happy about the trial date being two weeks away.

Its attorneys had argued they needed more time to look through roughly 200,000 documents.
