Traffic alert: Doyle Drive closure rescheduled

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco’s Doyle Drive was scheduled to be closed for an extended weekend starting May 28th, but late Thursday after noon, the CHP Marin announced that closure would be postponed.

The closure was scheduled to give work crews building the Presidio Parkway a chance to finish the connections to the new roadway.

Officials with the Presidio Parkway project say that the project was postponed to finish all of the testing and software integration of the tunnel fire-life-safety, traffic and communications systems.

“The project team is working closely with the State Fire Marshal to follow required testing protocol and secure approval to open the roadway. The tunnels cannot be opened to traffic before it has been demonstrated that the systems work as they were designed and are properly integrated,” said Ron Richardson, Chief Engineer with Golden Link Concessionaire.

A new closure date will be announced when the integration and testing is finished and certified by the State Fire Marshal.
