ALAMEDA (KRON) — Alameda High School’s Angela Borglum applied to 19 different universities. “Cal Berkeley, UCLA, Yale, Princeton, Georgetown,” the teen listed off a few of them.

She was accepted to 11 of those 19 schools, but only one from an Ivy League school. “Harvard was the only one that accepted me,” said Borglum.

That’s where the current Alameda High School Student Body President will go to school in the fall.

Allen Nakamura is Borglum’s leadership class teacher. He wasn’t surprised by the news that she was headed east. He has come to expect great things from the popular senior.

“She also helped us to win 25-thousand dollars for our school in a drive for safe driving,” said Nakamura.

Borglum has a 4.4 GPA, but she thinks it was her work in serving her community that ultimately secured her seat at Harvard. “There’s countless students that scored amazingly high on SAT’s, but it’s what you can personally bring to the school,” explained Borglum.
