SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The future is now — “Back to the Future” that is.

In “Back to the Future Part II,” Marty McFly and Doc Brown time travel 30 years into the future to the date Oct. 21, 2015.

“Back to The Future Part II” envisioned a colorful 2015 with flying cars, hoverboards and self-tying shoelaces. Even though cars may not be flying around yet, they were not too far of with the rise in technology.

Many fans are celebrating “Back to the Future” Day and what’s a better way to honor the movie than by watching it?

Screening of the iconic movie is being shown all over the Bay Area. Check out your local movie theater for showing times.

Or, if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can stream all three “Back to the Future” movies for free during the month of October. Universal is also releasing a special edition trilogy box set in light-up packaging resembling Doc Brown’s flux capacitor.

“Back to the Future” Day is being celebrated all over the nation with an appearance by the original cast at a Lincoln Center screening in New York, as well as several fan-centric events and more than 1,700 theaters hosting screenings across the country.

“Back in Time,” is a documentary about the franchises’ legacy featuring interviews with such notables as Michael J. Fox and Steven Spielberg that will also premier on this day. The documentary will also be released digitally Wednesday.The Associated Press contributed to this article
