A white woman says she is going to call the police on an 8-year-old African-American girl for selling bottled water on the street.

It’s a decision the woman says she now regrets because the video of the incident has gone viral under the hashtag #PermitPatty.

Erin Autin’s 8-year-old daughter Jordan was the one selling the water.

“She said ‘if you don’t show me a permit, I’m calling the cops.’ [I replied] ‘Okay, call them.’ When she pushed 911 dial, I pulled my phone out of my pocket,” Autin said.

She started recording.

“This woman don’t want to let a little girl sell some water. She is calling the police on an 8-year-old little girl. You can hide all you want. The whole world is gonna see you boo,” Autin can be heard saying in the video.

The video was posted Saturday on Instagram and now that video has more than a million views.

Online, Allison Ettel has been dubbed #PermitPatty.

However, prior to this, Ettel was known as a female entrepreneur in the cannabis industry as the founder of Treatwell Cannabis Products.

In the wake of the viral video, some cannabis retailers are cutting ties with Treatwell.

Oakland-based Magnolia Wellness issue a statement on social media announcing they “will no longer be carrying Treatwell Tinctures.”

Ettel has said she did not actually call the police.

In fact, SFPD confirms they did not receive any calls about the incident.

Ettel did say that she used a stern voice when she approached the child about selling the water without a permit.

She says that Jordan and her mom were screaming about the water they had for sale and the loud noise prompted Ettel’s response.

It’s something she says she now deeply regrets.

She says she has even received death threats.

Jordan’s mom says her daughter was selling water to try to raise money for a trip to Disneyland, something she no longer needs to do because someone heard about the story and donated the money.

How excited is she about that?

“Extremely excited because I have never gone,” Jordan said.
