SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The Golden Gate Bridge is now closed to vehicle traffic for the the weekend as a new median barrier is installed.
San Francisco officials announced the closure just after midnight.
The California Highway Patrol and construction crews started closing bridge roads around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
The upgrades include the installation of a $30 million metal and concrete moveable median barrier.
The bridge is scheduled to reopen Monday morning at 4 a.m.
