Ready for one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the year in the Calistoga area? It’s coming your way next weekend!
May 10th through the 12th is the fifth annual Calistoga Food & Wine Event, a three-day celebration of Upper valley grape growers, farmers and chefs. It will be hosted by Solage, an Auberge Resort known far and wide for its style and its fantastic culinary and cultural events.
The event was founded in 2013 by Solage and every year it has brought together travelers and members of the local community alike, who descend on the resort to experience the fantastic selection of food, wine and live music from the region. Some of the area’s most celebrated chefs and winemakers will be on hand at the event to deliver a culinary experience like few you have experienced before. “Solage is thrilled to once again gather together the talent behind the best food and wines in the region for full-bodied fun,” said Philip Kendall, managing director of Solage, an Auberge Resort. “From farm-fresh local cuisine prepared by the region’s most celebrated chefs to the finest bottles of wine produced by local vintners, we look forward to welcoming guests to this celebration.”
What to expect
The event begins Thursday, May 10 with an exclusive reception featuring the flavors and vision of five local wineries and chefs at Bennett Lane Winery, where views of the Mayacamas Mountains are as captivating as the culinary creations.
The event continues on Friday, May 11, with guests taking part in a master class on how to make fresh pasta taught by Solbar Executive Chef Massimo Falsini, who will draw on his Italian roots to guide participants through the techniques for creating perfect pappardelle noodles, as well as filling and crimping ravioli. That evening, participating restaurants in the town of Calistoga will continue the culinary adventure, with various customized dinner menus in support of the festival. Some of these menus will include wine pairings and complementary corkage for Calistoga AVA wines.
The weekend culminates Saturday, May 12 at Solage for the signature Grand Tasting. Surrounded by breathtaking views of Calistoga, guests will enjoy unique local wines from more than 40 wineries, as well as live music and light bites from Solbar and local restaurants.
In addition to getting a delightful wine and food experience with the purchase of your ticket, you’ll also be contributing to a good cause, as a portion of all event proceeds will be donated to the Calistoga Firefighter’s Association.
