A Texas sheriff’s deputy is behind bars, accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.
47-year-old Jose Nunez is charged with super aggravated assault of a child.
He’s a ten-year veteran of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
A four-year old girl told her mother that Nunez touched her inappropriately and hurt her.
The mother went to a local fire station Saturday night to call police.
“The details of the case are quite frankly heartbreaking, disturbing, disgusting, and infuriating all at the same time, to be honest with you,” Bexar Co. Sheriff Javier Salazar said.
“The mother of this little girl is is an undocumented immigrant. And my understanding is that this suspect utilized that to his advantage to place the the the mother in fear that she would be deported if she did report it,” Salazar said.
The victim has minor injuries, but is now safe.
Authorities believe this was not the first time the former detention officer abused this child, and there’s concern there may be other victims.
